About Kootenay Born Campground
Our Story
Kootenay Born Camping and retreat is all about providing families with memorable outdoor experiences. Our founders, John and Michelle, had a dream of creating a campground that was more than just a place to pitch a tent. They wanted to create a community where families could come together, enjoy the great outdoors, and make memories that would last a lifetime.
Kootenay Born is located on the west side of Arrow Park in the beautiful Kootenay Valley. Surrounded by forested crown land, mountains and lakes, It is the ideal spot if you are looking for the quiet and solitude of nature or an exciting wilderness adventure. We try to offer something for everyone with our Tiny house, Micro cabin and 7 individual grass tenting sites with hand crafted picnic tables and an RV area.
Arrow park ferry is a free on demand shuttle that will take you across to us. It's the first electric ferry in BC. Ferry hours are 5am to 9:20pm closes noon to 2:15pm daily.
There is free parking for vehicles next to the fenced in camping area .
Each area has access to a quaint outhouse facility with wash up area. On demand hot showers are available and provided is a covered area equipped with a BBQ and cook stove and a table for food preparation and meals.
(Rock Henge) is our common area for campers to sit around the fire and enjoy the starry nights and share their days adventures. Beautiful Arrow Lake for fishing, kayaking or swimming is a few minutes walk from your campsite. If you are up for a challenge there are amazing mountains all around us just waiting to be hiked and explored. The Saddle Mountain Trail, just 10 km away, is a challenging trek that will take you to the top offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and lakes. Welcome to our world!
